Coffee

Coffees we’ve met, none of them for sale.

Every coffee below is one we tasted, watched being made, or were handed by the person who grew it. What we can verify is stated; what we can't is flagged. When we do bring something home, it appears in Available and this page keeps its memory as Past drops.

Sumatra

The lot under the blue net

Heavy, herbal, thick in the mouth — and nothing like the tasting notes printed on the Sumatran bags we'd been buying at home. We cupped it on the same table where it was graded.

Brazil

A bag we were handed

The end of the visit: finished bags on a counter, after we'd walked the rows and the patio. We are including it because it happened, not because it is ours.

Northern Thailand

What they brewed for us

Picked that week, dried on beds we'd been standing next to an hour earlier, poured over in the shop at the end of the road. The closest either of us has been to the whole chain in one day.

Why there is no shop here

We haven't chosen a coffee to import and we don't have a route to bring one in. Until both are true, a shop would be a costume. This page is the honest version of the same idea.

When one of these becomes available, the people on the list hear first.
